These data are quadrangle mosaics of the six Landsat 7 ETM+ non-thermal bands that have been atmospherically corrected, and overlapping scenes adjusted to match adjacent scenes, so that the data form a seamless data set throughout Afghanistan. The scenes were mosaicked into the map quadrangles with 100 pixels of overlap on all sides. All quadrangels are projected in UTM (WGS84) in their appropriate zones. The original 28.5-m resolution of the 6 bands is maintained in these digital mosaics. Attempts at pan sharpening to increase resolution (another resident Landsat database on the website) induced noise into the imagery that is present in the Landsat panchromatic band data. That noise is random and cannot be removed.
